Professor Trent Kynaston Officially Retires

Jazz educator and saxophonist Trent Kynaston
officially retired this past April from the School of
Music at Western Michigan University. A special
surprise ceremony in March celebrated his many
contributions to WMU through many years,
including the inception of the jazz studies
program under his lead direction.
Kynaston
is a recognized artist in classical and jazz
music and has performed throughout the United
States, Canada, Europe, Central America, South
America, and Asia. He's a recipient of Down
Beat magazine's annual Achievement Award for
Jazz Education, and the Outstanding Service
Award and Dean's Outstanding Teaching Award
from the College of Fine Arts. He received the
Western Michigan University Distinguished
Teaching Award in 2007, and was WMU's
"Professor of the Year" in 2008.
